the summer that wasn't mine
summer of 22
a pleasant, warm breeze
waited under the shade for you
for a chance I couldn't seize.
told me you would return
and vanished into thin air
return you did
but i was no longer there.
spotted you from miles across
stepped down and ran
amidst the winds like the trees that tossed
called your name; the tale began;
pierced through my eyes
a sight to behold
barren heart spoke too many lies
so the truth couldn't stay untold.
euphoria of the moment
that came with your smiles
an inevitably tragic end awaited
as i travelled through those five miles.
moved too fast
quick paced treads
so down my heart crashed
like a million broken beads.
brace yourself up
time waits for none.
get over the hurt
run.
soon after the dusk
dawn shined bright
in a manner so brusque
prepared to face your sight.
glanced through the glass
eyes try to shun
closed doors surround
back to square one.
